What is a good interfacing to use in a tote?
I made a tote as my first project. It called for Decor fuseable interfacing. It was kind of difficult to work with. What would you use in a regular plain ol' tote bag to give it some body? Also what is easiest to work with and still give great results? I seen somthing in a diaper bag pattern that called for "sew-in" interfacing. I'm confused with all these types.
Interfacing comes in a lot of different weights. There is no difference in fusible or sew -in interfacing, one has a sticky side that makes it adhere to the material all by itself. The other does not, you have to sew it in. That kind goes into the fabric just as a lining would.
And of course, the sew-in kind of the same weight might be cheaper.
My fabric stores all have interfacing sold by the yard on bolts, as well as already bundled up in a package.
Give the stuff without sticky stuff on it a whirl, and see if you find it easier to work with. A tote is a good choice to learn how to use interfacing on. I lined a garment with not sticky interfacing, I did not find it difficult.
