Nekozawa Cosplay Help?
This year for Halloween, and for a big anime convention going on in my state, I want to cosplay as Nekozawa-senpai from Ouran High School Host Club. Trouble is, I need to find all the pieces.
Does anyone know where I can find a site I can go on to buy a Nekozawa cape/costume and Bereznoff puppet? Or maybe a site I could use to make one step by step? Or even if anyone out there could send me good pictures of his outfit?
Thanks so much!
You can always buy stuff online, but it's way cheeper to make it yourself. Capes and a simple handpuppet won't be that hard to make and you can have a quailtiy costume to wear to the convention.
Nekozawa wears a simple black cape, which is pretty easy to sew since the store bought one aren't going to cover you as well as the ones you make. I would go with something 100% cotton or a fabric called teacloth, which is also 100% cotton but thicker, and that's good for a cloak. For the pattern, go with a simple cloak about three sizes larger then what you would normally want. There are some very simple patterns out by Simplicty and McGalls in the halloweeen section of their cataloges. Look for something that says Easy or 2 Hour. these are the easiest to make and are idiot proof.
For Beelznoff:
Next, you need to get about half a yard of basic pale yellow flannel fabric, and 1/8 yard or so of something called Wonder Under. Ask the fabrics ladies for this. You also need 1/8 yard of white flannel and a little square of pink fabric. The pattern is really simple: just take a peice of computer paper, fold in half and then draw a very large outline of Beezlenoff on one side. Cut it out and then use that as a pattern peice. Sew as normal, leaving the bottom open for your hand. (otherwise you get a Beezlenoff pillow!) Cut out half moon shapes for the eyes in both the white fabric and the Wonder Under. Take and heat up the iron, peel off the parchement that is undernethe the wonder Under and place the WU undernethe the white fabric. Press with an iron. Use a black fabric pen to draw the little eye slits and to mark around the eye. Repeate this with the pink mouth.
As for other things: Nekozawa wears black slacks and the school uniform under his cloak. It's very important to get a costume right.

Best of luck to you!
