6 Month Baby advancement?
I'm a 23 year old proud daddy and I have a question, something I find curious. My Son has been moving around on this belly and it seems that he is copying patterns. His mother or I will tap on the floor and he taps on the floor the same number of times. Now being his Dad I feel biased saying he is smart, but this seems a little advanced. We also have him a toy that that has things that when pulled on make sounds and he has figured out how to pull them, also seems a little advanced. ... so I guess basically what my question is, is he advanced? What can I do to make sure I'm challenging him accordingly so he doesn't get bored etc. Thanks for your help.
Question being asked because I couldn't find much about patterns on line and when a child starts copying them, reality is I guess that is how they learn, copying everything and making it there own.
Hi! My baby just turned 7 months, and she has been doing these things for a while now. I think it is actually SLIGHTLY early, but I wouldn't suggest pushing too 'advanced' of things on him because of it. My girl copies words (she says dog, doggy, nose, mama, baba, dada, etc to the correct object), actions, etc. She started crawling at 4.5 months & has actually done EVERYTHING ahead of other babies her age. I'm proud of her, and obviously think she is the most amazing, smartest baby on earth 
, but I also realize that it doesn't mean she's going to turn out to be a genius... Babies just develop at different paces. Just go with what your baby's cues are (ie, since my baby likes words, I do lots of word games with her, even if it's technically a 9-18 month activity) and just make sure never to EXPECT advanced behavior out of him.
