Can I use waterproofing spray on my Doc Martens?
Or will it ruin them? Are they already waterproof? I'd like to be able to wear them in the winter, but it's really snowy where I live. Also, will it affect stitching in any way, the ones I own have a flower design sewn on the side, this is a picture of them: http://www.drmartens.com/ProductDetail.asp?PID=13242001
Go to a shoe store, with the shoes, and ask. Go to a place that is specifically a shoe store. Not the corporations and chains. The chain stores hire people with no shoe knowledge. I asked if I could waterproof uggs without messing them up. The woman convinced me that a $40 spray would do it. It completely wrecked them. When I went back to the store to get them to pay for my new uggs, i was told that the employees don't know much about shoes. And they aren't responsible if their employees are dumb. So make sure you go to a shoe repair, or a special shoe store. Call and ask a few places too. The stitching should be fine. If you are concerned, don't wear them when it's wet.
