What to wear to the captains dinner. Carnival Paradise?
Im going on the Carnival Paradise next week and was wondering what to wear to the captains dinner. I know a lot of people will say Formal Wear and evening gowns but I do not own an evening gown and cannot afford one either, Im barely able to afford this trip. I have a nice pair of dress capri's and a silk shirt would that work?
There is no Captain's Dinner on Carnival anymore
Carnival has loosened their dress code so much that there is no longer a "Formal Night" but rather it is called "Elegant Night". Tuxes/suits and formal gowns are not necessary - in fact, men are only required to wear nice slacks and a collared shirt! The last cruise I was on a month and a half ago, less than a third of the men were wearing suits or sports jackets and I did not see a single tux - it was on a Fantasy Class ship as well - the Fascination.
There is a Captain's Reception where the Captain and his crew meet the passengers before the first Elegant Night dinner (there are two Elegant Nights on cruises longer than 5 days). Again, there is no dress code as they normally just stroll along the Promenade Deck. Some will call this the Captain's Dinner but he does not eat with the passengers.
What you plan on wearing will be fine - simple dresses or a pantsuit are also fine.
