It's kind of iffy. My school has signs for different tuxedo rental places advertising about $50. It won't look quite as traditional, but if you don't mind and your date doesn't mind, go for it! But for goodness' sake, ask your date! Don't ruin her night because you don't want to rent a tux. She probably spend a lot more than that on her dress.
