Timeless romance cuddled up in Vintage fabrics by Spinsters Emporium
There are a lot of things on the Internet, some of them not so necessary. For the hungry crafters out there, we can spend hours searching the world for blogs, shops and magazines for beautiful retro fabrics or antique buttons or vintage haberdashery. This can be time consuming, and sometimes quite disappointing, when all that is wanted is something delightful to stare at. Sit down for this; I have some news for all the fellow craft loving people out there. Spinster's Emporium is the home of all these things and more! And it has a cutesy, loving, ultra fresh appeal to all generations and all experiences of craft.
My decade is 1940/1950, there is something so dreamlike about the shape and colour that is of the decade. Vintage fabric therefore is my life. It is my icing on the cake, and the rainbow through the clouds. Okay, so there are some retro fabrics, such as 1980's fabrics, or 1960's floral fabrics, (which are delicious as well) but nothing compare to a silk 1940's floral fabric. YUM! The romantic, quirky description sells it in one go, âthe elegant floral's skip and dance across the vintage fabric, blowing gently in the wind.â Can you feel the romance? The desire, the feel of vintage silk across your skin?
There is a certain Cath Kidston, or even a Liberty's feel to the vintage fabric that are sourced by Spinster's Emporium, yet after reading into them, it is cleared that these retro fabrics have something Cath Kidston didn't think about. These antique fabrics are all recycled fabrics or ethically sourced materials, so when you buy into the brand, you are gaining a good deed along the way. Bonus! Some of the vintage fabrics were originally curtains, or end rolls, everything is one off and limited, but that shouldn't stop you from thinking outside the handmade box, a curtain can become a dress, maybe even pick up a vintage dressmaking pattern from âFully Fashioned Patternsâ, also available from the Spinster's Emporium. Remember in the Sound of Music when she made the children's clothes from curtains...? If Maria can do it, we all can do it. No? Well, I've thought of a few other things to do with vintage fabric, what about light upholstery? Chairs, cushions, wall hangings? Handbags, vintage throws and quilts, or any other sewing and crafting projects that take your fancy. There's my suggestions, but the worlds your oyster, all you need is needle and thread.
Did I mention that Spinster's Emporium holds a wide range of other delights too? Personally, I've always thought about the world, and wondered why there is so much craft, and Craft Books, but no vintage craft packs? Where have they been all my life? When I was a child, there would be nothing more delightful to me, than to have a vintage fabric pack, or a Button It, vintage button pack. These are such perfect gift packs, or just a helping hand for first time craft virgins. What is really impressive about such craft packs is the fact that they are themed! Would you like a spring floral selection of vintage or retro fabric? Which is âCuter than a daisyâ, tick! Or a Safari tribal pack? Tick tick. Plus there are colour themed craft packs such as âRed Ridingâ, âPerriwinklesâ or âRosie Plushâ. Even if you don't like craft or fashion, or vintage fabrics. This site will take you to a delightful sun shining world where love flies around in the shape of antique buttons, and the ground is covered in vintage fabric. Imagine such a place.
Spinstersemporium.co.uk. has a versatile collection of vintage fabrics, retro fabrics and other collectible textiles. What are some colour scheme ideas for my menu?
For school I have designed a menu and am working on the design of it (colours and pictures) and I really do not know what to do. My menu is sounded by France. Our colours and designs go along with the theme which Im not sure since I don't like it is fine dining. Is it bistro? Chic? Etc...
I just don't want to do it all in red, white, blue. I want it look chic, elegant, vintage. Any ideas. I had tried Gold, Dark Red, and Biege, but it was missing something.
And if you have an awesome idea for the cover design points to you. Thank you all so much!
Here is what I am serving:
Buckwheat Crepe
French Onion Soup
Lamb Shanks
Triple Chocolate Mousse
As a general rule, using warm colours are better for menus/food advertisements because they make people hungry.
~Gold, burgundy, and dark green=classy
~Goldenrod, and Peach, with a hint of blush pink would be good as an abstract background, then have dark reddishpink words.
~Goldenrod with a deep red gradient with dark green words
Good luck!
