Indiana Basketball: A couple of thoughts on next year’s schedule (indystar)
I made an off the cuff reference earlier in the week about what school Indiana
likely will face in the 2012 Big Ten/ACC Challenge. My point was that since
television plays such an important role in determining what programs face off
against each other every season that it seemed like a natural to suggest that
IU would play either Duke or North Carolina at home this fall. It's just the
way it always works. Even when Indiana was going through its down times, you
knew it was going to face a more marquee opponent simply because of IU's name
value for TV. Now that the Hoosiers are considered one of the favorites for
the 2012-13 season, it just makes sense that the Hoosiers would face a program
like Duke or North Carolina again in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. One of my
readers said they thought they heard on last year's telecast that North
Carolina State would be IU's 2012 opponent in a return game from this past
season. I checked with IU and was told that has not been determined. But the
more you think about it, it certainly could be a possibility. ...
