wear a floor length maxi dress, with either a light floral pattern or if you prefer, a dark coloured dress (dark purples and navy blues). have either no strap or spagetthi strap.
OR
a short, just above the knee cocktail dress in a dark colour, but not red or black. no strap or thick strap.
i would probably say the maxi dress though, because its a 100th birthday so you want to look a little more conservative, and people will respect that aswell as being 'wowed' by your appearance.
