HOW FUR âTOPSâ WINTER FASHIONS by Jam
Renowned for its durability; new technologies and practised manipulations have increased the wearability of furs, retaining its innate properties while reducing the weight, so making it not only a new designer favourite for pretty much any wardrobe item this winter but also extending its flexibility into the spring/summer season. When it comes to fur tops, whether in close contact with your skin or used to add heat and indeed hotness with glamorous layers; this season has provided a wide range of different designs to taper and titillate the torso.
Wearing it well in winter, fur fashion makes sure that jumpers and sweaters have left behind their librarian image, to warm with contemporary wonder. Custo Barcelona has given that extra lan with chunky knitwear for both men and women accompanied by dyed feathered lamb sleeves. Adding volume in womenswear, No. 21 puffed the plush with their knitted three-quarter sleeve fox sweater in the peaceful pastel of peach, as placid continued with full lamb from Byblos on a sleeveless top in barely yellow and Missoniâs light yellow cardigan saw its collar, hem and cuffs lined with chunky knit or sweater hem trimmed with a pale rose pink. Tinkling the ivories, Guy Laroche stayed simple with his sumptuous sweater, while ebony was perfectly represented as JPBraganza literally added another layer with an almost reflective sheared mink sweater with tiered effect in black.
Lighting up the runway, the effervescence expressed through Sonia Rykielâs love of colour was seen to full advantage on her large buttoned vibrant v-neck cardigan in contrasting reds, finished with dyed fox sleeves and Leonard dazzled the eyes with the ultimate combination of texture and colour-blocking with rich red knits paired with black shearling arm patches, breast plates and collars.
Nicole Farhi invoked a 50âs vibe with her fitted, sleeveless jet black top that the designer paired with a high-waist skirt, alongside similar themes in vests and dresses. Other tops expressing high sheen hides saw the stencilled ponyskin top of Blugirl, loving lamb lustre of Gianfranco Ferreâs Karakul top and Givenchyâs sheared mink bustier with leather trim. Byblos got blousy with lamb-trims, as did Meadham Kirchhoff with mink-trims, Cushnie et Ochs offered a silk georgette long-sleeved blouse with long hair goat trim and Dries Van Noten brought forth the avant-garde with their bold, geometric patterned black, white and grey blouse, finished by oversized collars in contrasting dark brown rabbit. Etro combined the soft curls of Kalgan lamb black bodice with see-through arms and shoulders, John Richmond got flirty in fox on cropped top and Undercover didnât stay under much with their bustier tops in shearling.
Tuning in to tunics, Guy Laroche stayed neutral in soothing taupe on sheared lamb, Jill Stuart took it long with knee-length sheared rabbit in dyed rich browns and Elise verland offered long-haired goat with pronounced shoulders in ivory. Ermanno Scervino swung back in to the 60âs with a tunic trim of white fox collars while the audacious Giambattista Valli went stand alone with the salient mixture of karakul, fox and long haired goat in patch styles for a Vest Top to wow.

Would you wear the Loro Piana Horsey jacket in pink? Also has a pink quilted/cashmere lined vest that detaches
I just love the Loro Piana Horsey jacket - costs @1500K, out of my range at this moment - saw one online for less than half this cost - think it may be an impulsive moment and I"ll look like a jar of pepto bismo - but the jacket is outstanding as most Loro Piana items are - curious to hear feedback. I'm a stay at home mom and wear lots of chinos, rarely wear jeans, and loads of Gucci, Ferragamo loafers etc..
