My Computer - Windows XP is not working HELP!!!?
I have a windows xp 98, and I want to reinstall the computer, back to its original mode- a new program - so it looks like when i first bought the computer , with no files or documents saved in it- what do i do to restore the computer back to normal?
It keeps freezing up!
The icons on desktop keeps disappearing

First, your computer is either running Windows XP OR 98, but not both. If you bought your computer new, you either got a RESTORE disk, or you had the options to create restore disks. Look in your Start - Programs and examine any folder which may match your computer manufacturer. Look in all folders until you find one which may create restore disks.
Once you have a restore disk, you put this disk in (usually a CD Rom Disk) and boot and the computer is automatically returned to the same state at which you purchased it. (Windows 98 machines rarely have this feature.)
If you do not have a restore disk, you may want to contact the manufacturer and see about getting one. Make sure what programs come pre-installled.
If you cannot get one from the manufacturer, you may need to reinstall XP from scratch, but this will mean a loss of any and all programs which came with your machine such as Office, Photoshop etc...
Before you restore, or reinstall, you should go through and backup your documents, files and most importantly any install programs for utilities or programs which you may have downloaded for use. You can save these to a CD Rom if you have a CDRom writer, or to a flashdrive. This way they are available for use when you have reinstalled/restored your computer.
As for the icons, you may want to turn off desktop cleanup which deletes unused icons.
