How can I advertise what I sew or how can I sell it?
I love to sew childrens clothing & costumes mostly.I work full time but am planning on retiring in about a year & doing this for side work.I have sewed since I was 8 & I am now 53.I have sewed everything from baby stuff,flower girl dresses,bridesmaids & simple wedding gowns,costumes,jeans, car covers & chair/couch covers.I am a little insecure about if I will meet up with everyones standards once I start doing this professionally.My family & friends say I am quite good.Some of my costumes even one 1st prizes at the fair & I used to design & sew my friends country dance wear which also took prizes.I would like to just start making things & sell what I make, but if someone wants something made I would do that too.Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I would say to start registering to do some craft shows in your town. Build a website, and get cards made saying you'll do custom work. As you do more shows, pass out more cards, get people to your website, etc.....then venture out online at Esty.com and Ebay. You could even try selling your custom made clothing at local boutiques.
