Any suggestions on how to make or sew cute clothes?
Go to your local fabric store. Look through the pattern catalogs; they have all sorts of fun stuff like capris, sleeveless button-downs, tanks, cute skirts, etc. I would recommend "Simplicity" patterns, in particular for spring/summer fashions. They're the easiest patterns to understand and sew, and typically take about 1/2 the time to cut out and sew than other patterns. Mccalls Patterns, in my opinion, are poorly written and illustrated, so stay away from those. Butterick and Vogue patterns are for advanced sewers and tend to have patterns that are tricky and a bit more "high fashion," if you will.
Anyway, stick to easy fabrics such as cottons, seer-sucker and light-weight denim. Stay away from slippery fabrics such as rayon, charmeuse, satin, acetate, and silky solids. If you are a newbie sewer, ask your local fabric store if they offer sewing classes. If they don't, they might know of someone/place that does.
