Review of the Gregg Allman CD Searching For Simplicity by Clyde Lee Dennis
Gregg Allman has released him most recent album entitled Searching For Simplicity.
I wish it weren’t the case but, it’s not everyday that I get a CD from an artist that I can just pop in and comfortably listen to from beginning to end. There is usually a song or two that I just can’t force myself to get through. Not at all the case with Searching For Simplicity. Every track is enjoyable and was pretty easy for me to listen to from start to finish.
Rock music fans will recognize some of the well known guests that have been assembled to play along with Allman on several of the tracks. Artists like Johnny Sandlin and Tom Dowd just to name a couple.
This is a first rate CD, delivering a little something for everyone. I give it two thumbs up. It’s quite simply great listening. A must buy if you're even mildly into Rock music.
While the entire album is outstanding the truly standout tunes are track 3 - Come Back And Help Me, track 4 - Silence Ain't Golden Anymore, and track 13 - Startin' Over.
My Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [...as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is track 1 - Whippin' Post. It’s a great track!
